We were truly honored by the visit of our esteemed District Governor, Lydia A. Wells, to our club, which proved to be a great success. The evening began with a warm welcome from Club President Rtn. Karma Lama, who greeted DG Wells, members, guests, and Assistant Governor Michael Ashkenazy. AG Michael Ashkenazy introduced DG Lydia A. Wells, who emphasized the significance of Global Grants and District Grants, leading a discussion on these initiatives. Rtn. Arbin Poudel then outlined the Rotary Foundation Contribution plan, which includes $25 contributions from each member, 25% of funds raised in 2025-2026, and a May matching fund of $500 for Paul Harris Fellows. The Interact Club of NY Queens was recognized for their efforts, with President-Elect Yuba Raj Bhatta in attendance. Rtn. Pemba Sherpa, Executive Secretary, presented fundraising initiatives, including a Gala Dinner scheduled for December 19-21, 2025, and community outreach programs. Rtn. Urgen Sherpa and Rtn. Tsering Dolma Sherpa highlighted upcoming community events. President Karma Lama outlined special projects for 2025-2026, including "Hope in the Himalayan Heartbeats," which aims to support underprivileged, orphaned, marginalized, and disabled children in remote Nepal. The highlight of the evening included the recognition and certification of new member H.E. Gegye Yongyal Rinpoche by DG Lydia A. Wells and Club President Karma Lama. DG Wells also awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award and Certificate of Recognition to Assistant District Governor Michael Ashkenazy. Additionally, Certificates of Recognition were awarded to Rtn. Karma Lama, Club President, and Rtn. Arbin Poudel, issued by the Honorable Senator Leroy Comrie , NYS Senate, 14th Senate District and Rotary Club of Hope NY.
