Today, the Rotary Club of New York Queens held its second monthly meeting. The club president warmly welcomed our distinguished guest, the Honorable Bipin Raj Niraula, a member of the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission of the Federal Republic of Nepal Government. His speech, filled with inspiring life experiences, truly captivated and spellbound all of us. During the meeting, Arbin Poudel, the Club President, expressed heartfelt condolences for the passing of the father of Nabaraj KC, a past president of the club. A minute of silence was observed in mourning and to pray for the departed soul to rest in peace. Arbin Poudel also informed the members about the club's exclusive permission from Rotary International to form Rotaract and Interact clubs. He also provided updates on the club's donation for Polio Day, the finalization of tax filings, and welcomed two new members, Arun Rai and Sushma Karki. Additionally, he highlighted the club's past activities. The meeting saw a decision to organize a "Coat Drive" for homeless individuals in the neighborhood as part of the club's signature campaign "Luggage for Life." This event will take place on Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. All members and community volunteers are invited to join the club team at 8:00 AM in front of the 65th Street Train Station, near Woodside Cafe and Restaurant. Attendees included past presidents Kham Bhatta and Guru D. Parajuli, President-Elect Karma Lama, Secretary Sudesna Adhikari, Treasurer Tsering Dolma Lama, Program Chair Manju Bista, Board of Directors Jeevan Bom, Dawa Sherpa, and Pasang Sherpa.
