A Milestone of Service and Commitment: 9th Installation Ceremony of the Rotary Club of New York Queens
On this momentous day, the Rotary Club of New York Queens proudly concluded its 9th Annual Installation Ceremony, marking another chapter of service, leadership, and unity. The event was graced by distinguished guests and community leaders who continue to embody the spirit of Rotary through action and compassion.
We were deeply honored by the presence of Rotary District 7255 Governor Lydia A. Wells and Robbie Donno, President & Founder of Gift of Life International, whose words and wisdom added powerful meaning to the celebration. Their presence, alongside guests such as Urgen Tulku Rinpoché, Dr. Yula Sherpa, Fith J. Labis (President), Mario R. Dalman (Interim Past President, Rotary Club of Queensborough West), , reflected the spirit of global fellowship and cultural harmony.
Special acknowledgments to community leaders including Temba Sherpa (President, Sherpa Kyidug), Kalsang Choephel (President, Dhuka USA), and A.P. Lama (President, Sherpa Association of Nepal), whose participation amplified the cultural and humanitarian depth of the event.
District Governor Lydia Wells officially inducted the 2025 executive team: Karma Lama, President Pasang Sherpa, President-Elect Pemba G. Sherpa, Executive Officer Sushma Karki, Secretary Chameli K. Pariyar, Program Chair Dawa K. Sherpa, Treasurer Michael Ashkenazy, Foundation Chair Dr. Shekhar Giri, Sergeant-at-Arms
Newly appointed Board Members include: Manju Bista, Jeevan Bom, Purushottam Khadgi, Tsering Dolma Lama, Sudeshna Adhikari, Urgen Sherpa, Dukar Tashi, Saroj Shrestha, Sushil Giri, and Khem Kumar K.C.
The ceremony opened with a heartfelt welcome by Past President Guru Datta Parajuly and was beautifully emceed by Club Founder and Past President Nabaraj KC, whose leadership ensured the event flowed seamlessly.
During the program, the club proudly unveiled its 2025 Annual Journal, and outstanding members were recognized with special citations and certificates presented by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and NYC Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams.
Newly inducted President Karma Lama delivered an inspiring speech outlining a bold mission and impactful initiatives for the upcoming term, echoing Rotary’s enduring motto: Service Above Self.
