Rotary Club of New York Queens — A Beacon of Health in the Himalayas
On Monday, November 24, 2025, our club proudly sponsored the Free Health Check‑up Camp at JTAM Orphanage, Khatyad‑3, Mugu. We provided comprehensive examinations and essential medical treatment to more than 88 children including 18 children of JTAM and children from the surrounding neighboring communities.
Why it matters
– Early detection of nutritional deficiencies, vision/hearing issues, and infectious diseases cuts the risk of long‑term complications.
– Immediate treatment of minor ailments stops them from escalating.
– Improved school attendance fuels education and social development.
– Community trust is reinforced when compassionate service is visible.
These outcomes align perfectly with Rotary’s core values—Service Above Self, Integrity, Fellowship, and Diversity & Inclusion. They also advance our club’s objectives: promoting preventive health, empowering caregivers with knowledge on nutrition and hygiene, championing child welfare, and forging sustainable partnerships with local health providers and NGOs.
This event is a shining example of the club’s signature campaign, *Hope in the Himalayan Heartbeats*, which strives to nurture health, education, and dignity for the most vulnerable children of the region. Each heartbeat we touch reverberates with promise and resilience.
